Obituary of Winston Herland Loyd

Winston Herland Loyd, Sept. 27, 1922 to Sept. 18, 2011, was deeply loved by the following who have already gone home to be with the Lord: his parents, Hugh Garfield Loyd and Annie Eliza Loyd; his wife, Jennifer Mary Loyd; his son, Lyndon Robert Loyd; his mother and father-in-law, Nicholas and Jenny Santora and his grandfather-in-law, Giuseppe Li Sachhi, as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Grieving this immeasurable loss are his sons, Lyell Loyd and Garfield Loyd; his daughter and son-in-law, Delilah and Michael Mahon and his granddaughters, Diana Marie Mahon and Juliette Lillian Loyd. Win was raised in Bogalusa, Louisiana as a farmer and served in the Marines in WWII. He made his home in New York and worked for ARC-TV and WABC and WPLJ Radio for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He went back to college in his later years and earned an Associates Degree at the age of 72. Win loved reading his St. Tammany Farmer and his NY Times every day. For many decades he completed their crossword puzzles, in ink! Win also leaves behind his roommate, his cat "Mia." They adored eachother. Win has been a resident of Victoria House in Matawan, NJ since the loss of his beloved wife, Jennie, in 2007. His loss leaves a break in the hearts of his loved ones. He was a treasured husband, cherished father and beloved "Grandy" and "Grandpa." The sun here on Earth has grown a bit dimmer today and a star in Heaven is shining a bit brighter. We love you and miss you very, very much Dad. Until we meet again "Good night and Good Luck" Visiting hours will be Friday, Sept. 23rd from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold.
