Obituary of Elizabeth G. Applegate

Elizabeth “Betty” Applegate, 95, of Howell Township, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Trenton, she lived in Englishtown, Jamesburg, and Silvermead in Freehold Township prior to moving to Howell Township three years ago. Mrs. Applegate was a switchboard operator for the Training School for Boys, Jamesburg, retiring several years ago. Mrs. Applegate was a lifetime member of the Jamesburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester G. Applegate; two brothers, Alvin and Charles Green, a sister, Joyce Weber, and a granddaughter, Lisa Applegate. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Connie Applegate, Las Vegas, Nevada; a grandson and his wife, Richard and Beth Applegate, with whom she lived; two great grandsons, Christopher and Robert Applegate; and her former daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Applegate, Manasquan. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday, 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. with funeral services being held at 7:30 P.M.
