He was raised in Linden, attended Linden High School, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943. Russ served in the Pacific Theatre, Okinawa, and Midway Island and was discharged in 1946. One of Russ’s strongest passions was his country. Russ continued his education after serving in WW II at Middlesex Technical Institute. He then graduated from N.J.I.T. with a degree in Mechanical Design in 1956. When Russ completed his education he went on to obtain his private pilot’s license of which he was very proud. He also enjoyed riding to the beach with his family in his ’54 MG-TF. Russ had three careers in his lifetime. He was a mechanical designer at Hercules Powder Company for 33 years, designing steel, piping, and surveying. He later joined Re-Max Real estate for 15 years. He finished out his career as Monmouth County’s “Supervisor of Veterans Interment”. During these years he kept busy coaching Little League, as a Vice President of Freehold Little League, president of Borough Republican Club, and served two terms as Borough Councilman, in which at this time felt he was instrumental in the “Freehold Beautiful Project”. He was also a member of the Freehold Elks, a life member and past Chaplain and past commander of the Freehold V.F.W. Post 4374, member of the American Legion Post No. 54 and a life member, former chaplain and past commandant of the Phillip A. Reynolds Marine Corps League Detachment. He was a true Marine through and through. He is survived by his wife, Frances Narozniak Keimig of 59 years of marriage; along with his daughter Nancy and husband Ed Mink, two grandsons, Daniel and Nicholas Mink of Millington; a son, Scott Keimig, Freehold, his sister, Jane Hahn of Hightstown, and many nephews and nieces.
