Obituary of William A. Maida

William A. Maida of Colts Neck, age 92, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013. Bill was a gifted chemical engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Manhattan Project in 1944, receiving a special citation for his contribution to our country’s nuclear program. Following his military service he worked as an engineer in the private sector, but then returned to the U.S. Army for over 25 years of service as a civilian employee, retiring in 1985. Bill was a man of deep faith and a devoted husband and father. He leaves behind his wife, Anne-Lise, having celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past May. Also surviving him are his daughter, Lise-Marie, and son, Daniel. Friends and family may attend viewings on Monday, December 2nd, 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 3rd at Luther Memorial Church, 818 Tinton Ave, Tinton Falls at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s name to the Mill Neck Foundation, PO Box 100, Mill Neck, NY 11765.
