Obituary of Gary J. Clark
Gary J. Clark, 70, of Freehold died Monday, May 12, 2014 at home. He was born in Rochester, N.Y
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps
He was a Captain for the Freehold Police Department where he served from 1965 until his retirement in 1996. He was a highly decorated police officer and involved with community relations through the Freehold Little League and Freehold Babe Ruth League.
He was a member of the Philip A. Reynolds Detachment, Marine Corps League, B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1454, and American Legion Post No. 54, all of Freehold.
His wife of 50 years, Linda Clark, died last November. A daughter, Mary Beth Clark, died in 1978.
Surviving are five sons, Thomas Clark and his wife Shawn, Orange Park, Florida, Timothy Clark, Terrance Clark and his fiancé Adelaide Neves, Howell, Gary W. Clark and his wife Jane, Middletown, and Brian Clark and his wife Janine, Jackson Township; a daughter, Janet Clark Powers and her husband Harry, Freehold Township; 15 grandchildren, Stephanie, Mary, Lisa, Gary, Jack, Samantha, Kayla, Sheri, Kyle, Caryn, Brianna, Victoria, Jonathan, Kyle, and Tyler; five great grandchildren, Adrianna, Anthony, Steve, Allison, and Kayleigh; and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Marine Corps League services will be held on Thursdday at 7:15 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the PBA Local No. 159, 36 Jackson Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
