Obituary of Walter Skupski
On Wednesday, August 17, Walter Skupski, beloved husband of Janice Malone for 42 years, passed away peacefully. He was 74 years old. Born to the late Walter and Julia Skupski, Walt touched the lives of countless people and always appreciated the simple things in life in all he did.
In addition to his wife Janice, Walt is survived by his son Rick, grandson Sabin (wife Nicolette) and great-granddaughter Lilith (all of Arizona). He was pre-deceased by his sister Anne Gilbertson and niece Julie. He loved his many nieces and nephews: Steven (wife Ursula) Cheryl (husband Jake), Christine (husband Chad), Melissa (husband Brian), Scott and Conor. He remained close to his sisters and brothers in law: Nancy and Rich VanSuetendael, Emily Malone and Jean Breslin.
Walter’s diverse talents navigated him through multiple careers. After serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War in 1967-1970, Walt worked for Brockway Glass in Freehold for many years. He was a driver for DCH Toyota. He also established businesses on his own.
Walt enjoyed every day with Jan at his side. They loved riding their Harleys, camping in the Catskills, traveling, playing cards and enjoying concerts with friends. In all he did, he always saw the best in everyone.
There will be a memorial gathering at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, NJ on Monday, August 29 from 4-7pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Walt would have wanted you to help others by contributing to the charity of your choice.
