Herman continued to define what true American grit really is and display the highest level of merit in our neighborhood until the bitter end. Who I once thought was just some grumpy old guy running heavy machinery for JRI came to be a man I'd look up to and continue to emulate his example to this day. He taught me to lead from the front, stand up for what is right, and love my country. He spoke highly of his daughter who I'd met while working at MONOC years ago. It was a gift to have crossed paths with him in this life, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
