Obituary of Hartson Boyce

Hartson Boyce, 80, of Matawan died on May 21, 2021 at Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel Township. He was born in Marlboro Township and had resided in Morganville before moving to Matawan in 1967. He was a teacher in the Freehold Regional High School District for 42 years before his retirement from Marlboro High School in 2005. He was a graduate of Monmouth College, Class of 1963. Mr. Boyce was a member of the First Baptist Church of Matawan where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard H. and Evelyn Johnson Boyce; three brothers, Richard, Raymond, and Frank Boyce; and a sister, Evelyn Boyce. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Linda R. Nielsen Boyce; a son, Hartson Wayne Boyce, Middletown Township; a daughter, Kerensa Boyce Hill and husband Kenneth Hill, Hamilton Township; three brothers, Eansley Boyce, Robertsville, Granton “Wally” Boyce, Little Egg Harbor, and Emil Boyce, Denver, N.C.; a sister, Alta Vivian Peterson, Forked River; and four grandchildren. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
