Obituary of Jennifer Nicholson

Obituary Jennifer Nicholson was born to the late Carlton & Silvia Forde in Port of Spain, Trinidad on January 30, 1950. She attended elementary school in Port of Spain, prior to relocating to Brooklyn, NY, where she completed her education at James Madison High School. She met and married the love of her life Alvin Nicholson on June 21, 1969 at St. George Episcopal Church, to this union five children were born. She was once asked, how many children are you going to have, and she proudly replied, “I want eighteen because I love kids!” Although she did not have “eighteen” of her own, she took in every niece, nephew, cousin, and neighborhood child who needed a place to sleep. She made sure they had food to eat and fresh clothes to wear because “Nobody better not lay their stinky butts in my bed!” Jenny was affectionately known as “Mudder” an endearing nickname that many addressed her as and she loved it! She was that neighborhood mom that every child wanted to be around. She treated all as her own. If you messed up, she would mess you up, tell you about yourself and set you straight! Jenny was the epitome of a strong black woman. She could do almost anything, she set her mind to. If something was not made to her liking, she worked at it until it worked for her. There is a bunk bed that she built with her own hands over thirty years ago, that is still standing. I think she could have built a house brick by brick with solar panels if she wanted. Some of us called her Dr. Nicholson because she always had something to fix you up. She liked being up to date with the latest gadgets and gaming systems. Jenny once ran in the Colgate Woman's Games and came in second place and that is a feat that most cannot boast about. And that was after she had children! Jenny was a fighter of peace and she did not bite her tongue for anyone. Knock her down and she got up, and I tell you what, when she did, you better run! Unexpectedly, the dreaded demon COVID19 came into this nation and robbed us of her ever-smiling face. Mudder fought the good fight, but this battle was a little more than she could bear, God saw her suffering and gently whispered in her ear, “daughter come home!” Jenny joins her two children, daughter Jillian Forde, son Alvin Nicholson Jr. Parents; Carlton & Silvia Forde; sister, Jeanette “Etta” Russell; brothers, Glen and Kerry Forde and father-in-law, Al Nicholson. Jenny will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend of 51 years, Alvin Nicholson Sr.,their four children, Jesse, Ayesha, Foster (Jaleesa), and Wesley, her siblings; Judy Forde, Carlton A Forde Jr., Cheryl Banfield (Bernard), Anthony Forde, Jules “Mikey” Forde (Elana), Patricia Forde. Also her aunt Hazel Brown, aunt Abby Garcia, uncle Albon Brown. Her mother-in-law Lillie M Nicholson and uncle-in-law Jesse Harper. Five in-laws Mary Johnson, Sally Nicholson-Poole (Woodrow), Debra Nicholson, Joseph Nicholson, Clint Nicholson (Bonita). 27 Grandchildren, and 13 (plus 1 on the way) great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and close friends. Funeral services are being held privately.
