Kay Lithgow was a blessing to her family and communities. I came to know and love her over 50 years ago through our church, Grace Lutheran in Freehold. It takes a special kind of adult (along with her husband Fred and friends, the Mohrs) to sponsor, chaperone and nurture a bunch of young teens. Kay did so with beauty and grace—even when she had to politely ask chatty me to give the group some peace and quiet on the way home from a weekend at a lake. It has been said that children need role models and friends outside of their family to feel encouraged and accepted. I know this to be true because Kay was that sort of person to me. I thank God for her life, for the promise of Easter and new life, and for all comfort given her family until they are united again.
