Obituary of Katherine Mills Gould

Katherine Mills Gould Age 89 Freehold, NJ Katherine Mills Gould passed away peacefully on May 9, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center. Born in Manila, Philippines, Katherine, (Katie) relocated to the U.S. in 1941, living in Tucson, AZ before moving to Great Barrington, MA. Katie graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School and worked as a secretary for several years in New York, NY. She met Bryant Gould on a blind date in October 1948 and they were married three months later at the Church of the Transfiguration in Manhattan. Katie served as Executive Secretary for Cushing and Nevell, Industrial Designers, for several years, after which she and Bryant and their two children moved to Manalapan Township in 1963. For 20 years, Katie was employed as Graduate Secretary for the Chemistry Department at Princeton University. She was a second mother to her PhD candidates from all over the world. Katie and Bryant moved to Applewood in 1999. There she participated in many volunteer activities and had a wide circle of friends. The Goulds were parishioners of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Freehold for over 50 years. Katherine was a past member of the vestry and the church school and served on the Altar Guild. Katherine Mills Gould is predeceased by three siblings and a son, Bryant Northam Gould, in 1988. She is survived by her husband, Bryant, her daughter, Paige (Eric) Schmiedeke of Hackettstown, NJ and three grandchildren: David of Denver Colorado, Julie of Arlington, VA and Kristie of Tampa Florida. Calling hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, May 15th, between 3 PM and 7 PM. The funeral will be at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 33Throckmorton Street, Freehold on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
