Obituary of Jeraldine Vincitore

Jeraldine Vincitore, 88, of Freehold Township, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, after a long illness. She was born one of ten children in Cromona (now Haymond), Kentucky, and attended the University of Pikeville. She moved to Jersey City in the early 1950s, where she met and married her husband Michael, who worked as a police officer and later a thoroughbred horse trainer, and who predeceased her in 1995. They raised three children, Michael, Teresa, and Salvatore, all of whom survive them. The family moved to Freehold in the late 1960s. She had a long, active, and and happy life, and some of her biggest joys before her illness were her own children, her granddaughter Stephanie and her membership of the St. Rose of Lima church choir. She was a fine bowler and tennis player, as well as an accomplished cook and interior decorator, and somehow managed to find time for volunteer work at CentraState Hospital. In addition to her husband Michael, Jeraldine is predeceased by sisters Dorothy Whitaker, Jewel LaPelusa, brothers Robert L. and Edsil Carver, in-laws Michael and Jean Totaro, and Sal and Erika Vincitore. She is survived by her granddaughter Stephanie, daughter Teresa, sons Michael and Sal, daughters in-law Mari-Ann, Michele, and Barbara Harrigan, and also by sisters Nedra Carvajal, Teresa Mullett, brothers H. Ford Carver, Daniel (Sonny) Carver, and Don Carver and sister-in-law Marie Falotico, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made in Jeraldine's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum.
