Obituary of Patrick Rooney

Patrick Rooney, 84, of Howell Township died August 26, 2017 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was employed at Monmouth County Bridge Department before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1961. Mr. Rooney was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Farmingdale. His wife, Sally Naughton Rooney, died in 2008. He was also predeceased by his parents, John and Emma Bahm Rooney; a brother, John Rooney, his sister, Anna Rooney; and his brothers-in-law, Homer McOwen and Paul Maghan. Surviving are a sister, Emma Maghan; his sisters-in-law, Mary Buckley, Patsy Naughton, Emily Naughton, and Agnes Naughton, and a brother-in-law, Anthony Naughton; ten nieces; 15 nephews; and cousin, Claire Short. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 31 Asbury Ave., Farmingdale on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
