Obituary of Lydia S. Wikoff
Lydia S. Wikoff, a lifelong resident of Manalapan Township died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.
Lydia was a member of Old Tennent Presbyterian Church where she was baptized.
Lydia was a graduate of Jamesburg High School and Katherine Gibbs School.
She met her future husband Charles Wikoff, Jr. while riding her bicycle on Route 9 when it was a dirt road. They farmed the Killdee Farm located along Route 9 and Tennent Road. The farm is now preserved in the state’s farmland preservation program.
Lydia was the Manalapan Township historian for more than 25 years and was committed to preserving Manalapan’s history and genealogy of its residents.
She was a member and supporter of the Battleground Historical Society
Lydia was a lifelong learner who clipped timely newspaper articles and shared heartfelt correspondence with family and friends. She enjoyed summers at Manasquan beach and many tranquil years at Piper Pond in Maine.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 2008.
Surviving are her children, Charles Wikoff, III and his wife, Terry, James and his wife, MaryAnn, and daughter Susan Clausen and her husband Bob; grandchildren, Jennifer Wikoff, Elizabeth Smith and husband Kent, Becky Clausen and husband Dirk Lang, Peter Clausen and wife Tara, Jessica Langlais and husband Andre, Emily Cappiello and husband Michael, and great grandchildren, Kenneth and Matthew Jastrzembski, Charlie and Thomas Smith, Piper and Finn Lang, Sean Clausen, Madalyn Langlais, and Abigail and Trevor Cappiello
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Old Tennent Church, Tennent on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at the Old Tennent Cemetery.
