Obituary of Brother James Leahy

Brother James Leahy, F.S.C., 88, of Lincroft died Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Brother James was born in New York City and received the Holy Habit of the Christian Brothers on September 7, 1946. He was a teacher at Sacred Heart School, New York City and St. Peter’s High School, Staten Island, an instructor at Jesu Magister, Rome, Italy, sub-director St. Joseph Novitiate, Barryton, N.Y., a professor at Manhattan College, Bronx, N.Y. and Lateran University, Rome, Italy, sub-director and director of Sangre de Cristo, Santa Fe, New Mexico, director and sub-director of Christian Brothers Novitiate, Skaneateles, N.Y., a professor at St. Mary’s College, California; a De La Salle delegate in Nairobi, Kenya, sub-director of the Novitate, Asmara, Eritrea, and sub-director of De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. Brother James had been in residence at Christian Brothers Academy since 2014. The viewing will be held at Christian Brothers Academy Alumni Hall, 850 Newman Springs Rd, Lincroft on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Alumni Hall on Sunday at 2 p.m. The interment will be held at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro on Monday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to De La Salle Nursing Development, 810 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738 would be appreciated.
