Obituary of Michael B. Mangini
Michael B. Mangini, of Freehold died August 31, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township.
Born in Manhattan in August 1958, Michael grew up in Staten Island, New
York, graduating from Curtis High School and St. John’s University. He
was a graduate of Fordham University School of Law (1987), and also held
a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary.
Michael served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps
and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Since 1998, he operated his
own private legal practice helping clients with estate and business
succession planning.
During the early 1990's, Michael served his country as a Captain in the
JAG Corps of the U.S. Army in Garlstedt, Germany with the 2nd Armored Div
Fwd, and in Operation Desert Storm with the 1st Infantry Div.
Michael lived a full and rich life. He was passionate about Susan, the
love of his life, his Savior Jesus Christ, theology, and philosophy. He
was a scholar and a gentleman, a loyal friend, and to know him was to
love him. He was generous with his time, money, talents, sharing his
enthusiasm for life, his sense of humor, loving his neighbor and imparting
the Truth of the forgiveness in Jesus Christ. His perspective was always eternal,
and he lived and relied fully in the joyful knowledge of forgiveness of sin
through the sinless life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection
of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life with Him. Michael is now
enjoying the fulfillment of that promise.
He was predeceased by his father Michael Matthew Mangini and
stepfather, Harold C. Kaplan.
Michael was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 29 years, Susan
Hammel Mangini. He also leaves behind his mother, Phyllis Kaplan of
Staten Island, brother Douglas Mangini and wife Lynne of
Locust, New Jersey, a sister, Barbara Kaplan, niece Carly and nephews Clark and Jack, sister
Trisha Kaplan Zak, and husband Peter, nieces Margo and Michelle, and
nephew Erik, sister-in-law Jean and husband David Brooks, niece Chelsea
and nephew Ty, sister-in-law Carolyn Hammel and nephews Justin and
Nicholas Panariello. He loved and treasured his family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.piratechristian.com/fightingforthefaith/.
