Br. Michael was my mother's cousin. They grew up together in Inwood New York. He worked in several schools, but the one I remember most was Paramus Catholic. He was a big man, big strong hands. The students were afraid of him as he was the dean of discipline and he'd patrol the hallways. To me he was just Brother Mike, family. He was the most intelligent person I have ever met. His writing was exqusite and his knowledge of history was amazing. He was a walking encyclopedia as we visited Rome in the summer of 1983. It was a special year in the Catholic Church and if you passed through the entrances of five specific churches you were like super blessed or something. And he would just start rattling off information about each church like it was second nature.
Truth be told, he was just a big softy, huge heart, a beautiful man and I miss him very much.

Brother Mike was the asst dean at CBA while i attended. He was one of the most influential in my life. i laugh that you called him the shadow as this very much described how he was (how did such a big man move so quickly. He taught me not just academically but also a lot of life lessons that i still hold on to this day and what i believe made me the man that i am. I will miss him greatly. RIP Brother Mike. You were loved.
