Obituary of William Barth

William Barth, 82, of Colts Neck Township died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Mr. Barth was born in Staten Island and resided in Marlboro Township before moving to Colts Neck 59 years ago. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, First Marine Division during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart Award for a wound received during the Hungman-Chosin Campaign. Mr. Barth was a supervisor for the Fort Monmouth Department of Engineering and Housing where he was employed for 34 years before his retirement 19 years ago. He was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1948 and a communicant of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Colts Neck Township. He was a former member of Colts Neck Fire Company No. 1. He was predeceased by his parents, Valentine and Katherine Barth; three brothers, Charles, Fred, and Harry Barth and three sisters, Veronica Barth, Eva Columbus, and Ethel Quabeck. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Anne Marie Tuohy Barth; three daughters, Kathleen Kawczynski and her husband Robert, Cynthia Greenlow-Presnal, and Patricia Barth; seven grandchildren, Robert Kawczynski and his wife Meghan, David Kawczynski and his wife Michelle, Michael Barradale, William Greenlow, and Christine Keiper and her husband Eric and Bridget and Hugh Persnal; and three great grandchildren, Tezra and Kayden Kawczynski and Kaitlyn Keiper. Visiting will be held at St. Mary’s Church Spiritual Center, Colts Neck (www.stmarycoltsneck.com) on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue / Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494 would be appreciated.
