Obituary of Edythe V. Weston
Edythe V. Weston, 67, of Howell Township died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township after a courageous battle against cancer.
Edythe grew up in Wanamassa and resided in Ocean Grove for over 30 years before becoming a resident of Howell Township.
She was the former proprietor of Tempo, Ocean Grove.
She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, currently Worthy Matron of Wall Chapter No. 143 and an officer of Molly Pitcher Chapter No. 198, appointed as Grand Representative of Arkansas for the Grand Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey. She was initiated into Iris Assembly No. 31 in 1956 in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and was a Past Grand Officer and Worthy Advisor. She received a Master of Grand Cross of Color in 1963 and was serving as chair of Holly Assembly No. 56 Advisory Board.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Florence Weston; and a sister, Elsie.
Surviving are her life partner and companion, Diane L. Prochnow; a niece, Hope Ann Wissel and her husband Rob, a great niece, Belinda Heldreth; a sister, Joan Heldreth; her in-laws, Dorothy and Gordon Prochnow, Sr. and their extended family; and her lifelong friends, Barbara and Harry Elliott.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a service of remembrance.
