Obituary of Susan Keeter
Susan Keeter, 90, of Englishtown died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at her son’s home in Freehold Township. Mrs. Keeter was born in Newark and had resided in Jamesburg before moving to Englishtown in 1945.
Mrs. Keeter was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown, Molly Pitcher Chapter No. 198, Order of the Eastern Star, Freehold, and Englishtown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a weaver at the former A.& M. Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold.
Mrs. Keeter was honored by the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders for her service as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and excellent cook.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin B. Keeter in 1997; a son, Marvin B. Keeter, Jr. in 1996, and a granddaughter, Laura S. Valentine, in 1971.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Linda Keeter, Freehold Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia D. and John J. Valentine; six grandchildren, Jean Melissa Stevens, Philip Richard Keeter, Christina Sue Emick, John Patrick Valentine, Daniel Richard Valentine, and Amy Colleen Valentine; four great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Memorial donations to the Englishtown Manalapan First Aid Squad or the Englishtown Fire Department would be appreciated.
