Obituary of Jerome T. Kurman

JEROME T. "JERRY" KURMAN, 86, of Silver Spring, Md., formerly of FREEHOLD and OCEAN, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, Rockville, Md. Born in Bensonhurst, N.Y., he lived in Freehold and Ocean before moving to Silver Spring, Md. in 2000. Jerry was a Navy veteran, a long-time civilian federal employee at Fort Monmouth, and a past president of Congregation Agudath Achim, Freehold. A man of great humor, he kept his sense of humor throughout his recent illness. He was predeceased in 2005 by his wife of 56 years, Esther Kurman. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patricia of Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Kenneth of Md.; daughter and son-in-law Judith and Kevin of Fla.; six grandchildren, Aaron and Matthew, Jennifer and Kelly, and Rebecca and Adam; sister, Renee of Va..; and brothers-in law and sisters-in-law Morton and Hilda of Ga., and Howard and Martha of Pa. Funeral services to occur at 2 p.m. Sunday at Congregation Agudath Achim, 59 Broad Street, Freehold. Interment will follow at Congregation Agudath Achim Cemetery on Rte. 33, Freehold Twp. Contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the Jewish War Veterans, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold, is in charge of arrangements.
