Obituary of George McLaughlin
George McLaughlin, Jr., 90, of Englishtown died Friday, October 7, 2011 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Prospect Plains and had resided in Hightstown before moving to Englishtown.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a plumber for Peterson Plumbing, Hightstown. He was also a truck driver and automobile mechanic.
Mr. McLaughlin was an avid stock car racer and mechanic.
He was the last surviving sibling of 16 children.
His wife, Gertrude Brown McLaughlin, died in 1991. A son, James McLaughlin, died 2010.
Surviving are a son, George McLaughlin, III and his wife Hope; two daughters, Bonnie Handwerk and Joyce Suydam and her husband Jim; a daughter-in-law, Helen McLaughlin; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
