Obituary of Nathaniel O. McDonald

Nathaniel O. McDonald, Sr., 74, of Freehold died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born to Warren McDonald Sr. and Beatrice Lockley- McDonald in King and Queens County, VA on August 7, 1937 he was raised and educated in Virginia and moved to Freehold in 1970. Nathaniel also known as "Geezo" worked for Ford Motors and as a Mover for several moving companies before he was employed with the Borough of Freehold Street Department where he remained until retiring in 2003. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and the I.B.P.O.E.W. Walter J. Conley Lodge No. 1379. He is predeceased by his parents, a brother Warren "Mutt" McDonald Jr. and two sisters Shirley McDonald-Culbert and Virginia Christian. Surviving are his wife, Mary B. Conover-McDonald; two brothers, Benjamin McDonald (Robin), Baltimore, MD and Floyd McDonald, MO; a son Nathaniel O. McDonald Jr., Freehold, a daughter Nia Wright-Berry, Rocky Mountain, NC; two stepsons Louis Conover of Newark and James Conover Jr. (Judy) of West Orange, four stepdaughters, Gwen Shells, WV, Marian Conover-Burke (George), Dawn Conover and Marlena Conover, Freehold, 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold on Thursday, November 3, 2011. The viewing will be from 10 am to 11 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
