Obituary of Cornelius L. Boyle

Cornelius L. Boyle, 86, of Freehold died November 18, 2011 at home. Mr. Boyle was born in Kearny. He served in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served from 1942 to 1946 and the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division, 187 Airborne Regimental Combat Team from 1947 to 1952. Among his awards were the Master Parachute Wings, Glider Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He retired with a total of 26 years of military service. After his retirement from the military Mr. Boyle was a civilian employee in the Defense Department. Mr. Boyle was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Surviving are his wife, Anna Brattan Boyle; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter H. and Teresa M. Boyle, Freehold; two grandsons, Jeffrey Boyle and his wife Kelly and Christian W. Boyle and his wife Justine; three great grandchildren, Marc, Zoe, and Christian C. Boyle; and two nieces, Joan Burch and Dolores Dorish. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donation to Meridian Hospice, Suite 3A, 340A Campus Parkway, Neptune, NJ 07753 would be appreciated.
