Obituary of Colmilus Ervin Oliver
Colmilus Ervin Oliver, 84, of Freehold died Friday, November 25, 2011 at home. He was born in Mecklinburg, Virginia.
Mr. Oliver was a manager for Building Service Corporation of New Jersey at Bell Labs, Holmdel. Prior to that, he worked at Blue Ribbon Dairy and Freedman’s Market, both in Freehold.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War Two stationed in Kyoto, Japan where he earned the World War Two Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Mr. Oliver attended the Court Street School in Freehold.
Son of the late Roger and Pattie Oliver, he was also predeceased by his brothers, John, James, and William Oliver; and his sisters, Carrie M. Oliver, Alfrata A. Walker, Mary Oliver and Georgia G. Williams.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 40 years, Barbara Ruth Oliver; his step children, James M. Acker and John L. Acker and his wife, Gloria, all of Freehold, and Margo O. Smith, Rosedale, MD.; grandchildren, Crystal L. Aye, Rosedale, MD, Glen Smith, Antelope, CA, and John S. Acker, Lake Villa, IL; a sister, Virginia Mosley, Newark; special nieces, Ruth A. Scales, PA, Jean Oliver, Farmingdale, and Mary Lindo, Chase City, VA; special nephews, Lee B. Williams, Jr., Eatontown, Richard Oliver, Englishtown, and Robert Mosley, Newark; and a host of other nieces and nephews and family and friends.
Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls.
