Obituary of Bruce R. Flavin

Bruce R. Flavin, 73, of Howell Township died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Leisure Chateau, Lakewood. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y. and was raised in Saratoga County, N.Y. He had resided in Florida before moving to Howell Township a year and a half ago. Mr. Flavin was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Lafayette, Colorado and Jacksonville, Florida. A former stock car driver, he was a welder for Whitley Steel, Jacksonville, before his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife, Janette Flavin; a son, Mark Flavin; and a brother, Philip Flavin. Surviving are his children, George, Luke, and Owen Flavin, Sherry Mann, and Shelly Flavin-Zisko; his mother, Emma Relyea Flavin; a brother, Francis Flavin; a sister, Audrey Troise; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday, November 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 30th, at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro Township. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
