Obituary of Roland Walker

Roland Walker, Sr., of Freehold died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Tuskegee, Alabama and had resided in Englishtown before moving to Freehold. He served in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division. He was a construction worker for Wolf and Sons, Metuchen. Roland was a member of the New Beginnings Agape Church, Freehold. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Ruth Ivery Walker; his children, Debra Walker, Roland Walker, Jr. and his wife Wylena, Patricia Walker Bailey and her husband Ronald, and Bernard Nicolson; a sister, Gloria Smith; his grandchildren, Jamar, Oliver, Portia, Jasmine, Rasheeda, Destinee, Brittany, Cornelius, Kendra and Kiara; four great grandchildren, Kayjon, Samari, Jordan, and Omari; five sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. The viewing will be held at the Old Ship of Zion Baptist Church, Englishtown on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
