Obituary of Brother Charles F. Kitson
Brother Charles F. Kitson, Jr., F.S.C., of Lincroft died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 67 while attending meetings at the Mont La Salle Retreat and Conference Center, Napa, California on March 11, 2016. He received the Religious Habit of the Christian Brothers in Barrytown, N.Y. on August 27, 1966.
Brother Charles was a graduate of St. Mary’s Elementary School, New Monmouth, Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft (class of 1966), The Catholic University, Washington, D.C., and University of Notre Dame where he earned a Master of Science Degree.
Brother Charles’ assignments included St. Raphael Academy, Pawtucket, R.I., Christian Brothers Center, Narragansett, R.I., where he was director of vocations, La Salle Academy, Providence, R.I., where he served as director of campus ministries, Tides Family Services Latin Outreach Program, Pawtucket, R.I. and San Miguel School, Providence, R.I. He served from 2008 to 2013 in the Generalate as secretary for Lasallian Family and Association. He was Auxiliary Provincial for Community Life and Formation for the District of Eastern North America for the past three years.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mildred O’Connor Kitson, in 1990.
Surviving are his father, Charles F. Kitson, Sr., Colts Neck; a sister: Mildred K. Herndon (William) Little Silver; two nieces, Suzanne H. DelGallo (Leonard), Avon, CT; and Carrie H. Cisar (Dr. Michael), Tinton Falls; a nephew, Joseph R. Holsey III (Kim), Boynton Beach, FL; grandnephews, Stephen, Sean, and Timothy DelGallo, Avon, CT, and Joseph C. Cisar, Tinton Falls; grandniece, Ally, Katie Cisar, Tinton Falls; step-nephew, John Herndon (Cathy), Westfield, IN, step-grandnephews, Michael, Matthew Herndon, Westfield, IN.
The viewing will be held at Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Henderson Theater at Christian Brothers Academy.
