Obituary of Emma J. Flavin

Emma J. Flavin, 99, of Jackson Township died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Leisure Chateau, Lakewood. Mrs. Flavin was born in Niskayuna, N.Y. and spent most of her married life in Saratoga County, N.Y. She had resided in Laurence Harbor before moving to Jackson Township 11 years ago. Mrs. Flavin was a communicant of St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Jackson Township and was a member of the West Lake Stage Crafters. She was a member of the Laurence Harbor Senior Citizens where she was a well known vocalist. She was predeceased by her husband George H. Flavin in 1975 and two sons, Philip and Bruce Flavin. Surviving are a son, Francis Flavin; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Frank Troise; two brothers, George and Douglas Ottendorf; a sister, Ruth Wilcox; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, Jackson Township on Friday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro Township. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association would be appreciated.
