Obituary of George H. Heitz

George H. Heitz, 81, of Jackson Township died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. He was born in Jersey City. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1955 including time aboard the USS Midway CVA-41. He was a butcher for Shop Rite, Freehold for many years before his retirement and member of Meat Cutters Union Local No. 464. Mr. Heitz was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jackson Township; a former member of the Brick First Aid Squad. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Mattox Heitz; three children, Jeffrey Heitz and wife Lisa, Joseph Heitz and wife Kathleen, and George Heitz and wife Kim; his stepchildren, Daniel Heulitt and wife Suzanne, David Heulitt and wife Tess, Sarah Guarino and husband Peter, Lorie Heulitt and Douglas Heulitt and wife Elyse; 19 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. The viewing will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00. Funeral services will be held at the Jackson United Methodist Church, Jackson on Friday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Jackson United Methodist Church, 68 Bennett’s Mills Road, Jackson, NJ 08527.
