Obituary of Robert J. Baxter
Robert J Baxter, Sr., of Bay Head, formerly of Ridgewood, passed away quietly on February 26, 2012 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park. Born in Lyndhurst on February 11, 1931, he graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1949 and attended Fairleigh Dickenson University. He retired from Citizens First National Bank, Ridgewood in 1992 where he was Vice President of Commercial Lending & Manager of the Ridgewood Office. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1951. He was an avid boatman and a licensed private single engine pilot, flying primarily out of Teterboro Airport.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, his wife Lois, a daughter Karen and a son Robert, Jr. He leaves two grandchildren, Shane and Kyle, a brother Charles, numerous nieces and nephews, and his companion of many years, Beatrice Tracy, and her loving family.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Association. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
