Obituary of Hazel Freida Guth
Hazel Freida Guth, 89, devoted wife and mother, passed away after a brief illness on March 2, 2012. She is predeceased by beloved husband of 69 years, Frederick George Guth, who passed on February 28 to prepare a place in heaven for her. Born in Newark, NJ on November 4, 1922, Hazel moved to Freehold, after her marriage to Fred in 1943. She recently resided at the Woodlands in Plainfield. She was a 50 year member of Liberty Grange #99 and a 60 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Freehold where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Phoebe circle. She also volunteered at Freehold Area Open Door. Hazel was recently honored, with husband Fred, as first runners-up for Queen and King of Hearts at the Woodlands. Her hobbies included cooking, bird watching, crocheting and socializing. Her family, however, was her ultimate fulfillment and happiness. Hazel will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion, which touched so many lives. Hazel is survived by three children, Frederick Guth III of Annapolis, MD; Philip Guth and wife Barbara of Freehold; Betty Jane Guth-Snyder and husband Scott of North Plainfield, NJ; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 10th at the First United Methodist Church, 91 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ.07728 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
