Obituary of Alice L. Dugan
Alice L. Dugan, 83, of Freehold, formerly a resident of Marlboro passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born in Sagaponack, Long Island, NY to Frank and Frances Krystoff. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, James E. Dugan and children James and Regina who were both her joys.
Left to remember her love are Debbie and Rich Galatro of Oakhurst, Carolyn Dugan of Holmdel, William Dugan of Holmdel, her five grandchildren Jenna Galatro, James and Jessica Muniz and her fiance Greg Inman, Kelly and Jimmy Dugan and two great grandchildren James Muniz and Jordan Inman. Alice also has a surviving sister Mary Cyrta of Toms River. Her siblings, who said their farewells years ago were Rose Johnson, Helen Dunn, Stella Gierlowski, Sophie Bielefeldt and Bill Krystoff.
Alice was a dedicated wife and mother. She worked at Bell Telephone Company prior to raising her five children. She also worked as a bus driver for Marlboro School System and provided healthcare services for in-home patients for years. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church of Marlboro.
She really enjoyed traveling with her family. Her true passions were the beach, fishing, crabbing, gardening, sewing, reading mysteries, playing cards, AC, watching old movies and most of all BINGO. She was a very brave and courageous woman-a woman of real strength and deep faith. She was adventurous and believed that you never give up, no matter what life throws your way.
Alice will be deeply missed by all of us but especially remembered by her grandchildren. She treasured them and had a unique relationship with each one. She enjoyed teaching them to find the joy in the simple things in life. They could go to their “Grammy” and feel confident she would keep their secrets forever.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Friday, March 31 at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Gabriel’s Historic Church, 549 Route 520 (Newman Springs Road), Marlboro on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of Alice L. Dugan can be made to St. Barnabas Palliative Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.
