Obituary of Julia Pettit Levchuk
Julia Pettit Levchuk, of Millstone Township died surrounded by her family at home on Sunday, April 15, 2012. She was born on September 16, 1927, the youngest of eight children. She was raised in Long Branch, and attended Long Branch High School, class of 1944, and Monmouth Junior College.
She worked at Parsons, Labrecque, Canzon and Combs, where she met and fell in love with her beloved husband of sixty years, Alexander. The story of June and Alex’s romance and elopement became legendary to her family and friends. Gifted with a head for numbers, she spent many years working as bookkeeper in Alex’s law office. June’s greatest passions in life were her children and grandchildren, her friends, her books, and her bridge clubs. She was a great conversationalist and confidante. June cherished the time spent with her sister and best friend Winnie Cittadino. Though not an athlete by nature, she became an accomplished tennis player and golfer in her later years. Her equestrian career was cut short following an unfortunate fall from an old, gray mare named Fay. All who knew her will miss her love, her humor, her compassion, and her wise counsel.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2011 and son, Thomas Joseph Levchuk in 1959.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew G. and Paulette Levchuk; two daughters, Karen A. Levchuk and Lisa Levchuk; a sister, Frances Cartwright; and two grandchildren, Alexander P. and Michael J. Levchuk.
