Obituary of Robert Graham Layton

Robert Graham Layton, 87 of Colts Neck, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Mr. Layton was born in West Long Branch and had lived in Colts Neck for over 70 years. He was a farmer for Walter C. Zimmerer, Jr. , Colts Neck, where he was a beloved and devoted employee and friend to the Zimmerer family for the past 65 years. He was an avid gardener and wood carver, specializing in birds. He was a “Giant” among men always putting others needs before his own. He was predeceased by three brothers and six sisters. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Oryll Layton; a sister, Grace Shepler, Fort McCoy, Florida; his best friend, Daniel Koontz, Brick; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
