Obituary of Carmen Alfonso
Carmen Alfonso, 89, of Freehold died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune Township. Mrs. Alfonso was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico.
She was a garment finisher for Hermarck Knitting Mills, Brooklyn, N.Y. before her retirement.
Mrs. Alfonso was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and neighbor who loved to cook, sing, dance and travel.
Her husband, Oswald Alfonso, died in 1997. She was also predeceased by two children, Carmen and Harry.
Surviving are her children, Emily A. Vidal and her husband Dr. Eduardo Vidal, Oswald Alfonso, and Victor Alfonso and his wife, Anilda; a brother, Rafael Gonzales; two sisters, Cecilia Collazo and Lucia Quinones; grandchildren, Edward Peter, Mary, Paul and Rose Vidal, and Kristy, Scott, Victor, Jr., and Katherine Alfonso; and great grandchildren, Alec, Rebecca, Kayla, Gabriel, Natalie, Daniel, Noelle, Gabriella, Cameron, Maximo, and Ella.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to Deborah Hospital Foundation, PO Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015-0820 or Open Door of Freehold, 39 Throckmorton Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
