Obituary of Jeanne M. Grega
Jeanne M. Grega, 91 of Freehold Township died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at home. Born in Thio, New Caledonia, she had lived in Freehold since 1946.
Mrs. Grega was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold.
Mrs. Grega met her husband of 57 years in Noumea, New Caledonia while he was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After coming to the United States with the other military wives and her infant son, she was reunited with her husband in Farmingdale, NJ, prior to moving to Freehold where she spent the remainder of her life. This loving woman enjoyed cooking, gardening, and painting; and valued the time she spent with her family and her French Club friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, John T. Grega in 2003, and her son, Michael Grega in 2009.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John G. and Patricia Grega, and Charles P. and Ann Grega; a daughter, Jeanne L. Blaker; six grandchildren, Amy Barker and her husband Matthew, Michael Grega and his wife Mary, Margaret Grega, Heather Blaker, Christopher Blaker, and Gregory S. Hall, Sr.; two great grandchildren, Blythe Grega and Gregory S. Hall, Jr.; and her attentive caregivers, Claudette McIntosh-Jones and Sybil Dawes.
Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
