Obituary of Robert David Jones

Robert David Jones, Sr., 80, of Jackson Township died Monday, March 28, 2016 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin. He was born in New Brunswick and had resided in Freehold for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was a cornet and trumpet player in the Marine Corp Band. He was employed at the Nestle Company, Freehold for 36 years before his retirement. Bob was a member of American Legion Post No. 54, Freehold. He was predeceased by a son, Robert D. Jones, Jr.; in 2009; a daughter, Sheryl J. Jones Rubino in 2015; and a brother, Roger George Jones in 1993. Surviving are a son Scott R. Jones and his wife Kathleen; a daughter, Robin D. Jones; his former wife, Joan Burdge; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
