Obituary of Kieran Roe
Kieran Roe, 79, of Freehold passed away on September 21st 2012 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Dublin, Ireland to Charles and Mary Catherine Roe, Kieran was the sixth of nine children raised on the family farm in Carnaross, County Meath. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1957 and served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He was married in 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Newark to Kathleen Farrelly with whom he had one son, Kieran and three daughters Mary, Susan and Joanne.
The family moved to Freehold in 1970 and he worked for 30 years as a salesman for J&J Dorchester. He was a long-time coach with Freehold Soccer and had been an active member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, the Freehold Elks and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. He was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold.
He was dedicated to his family and his nine grandchildren, who always enjoyed spending time with their fun-loving “Pop Pop”. He was known for his lively Irish wit and humorous story-telling. He is survived by his sisters Eileen in Ireland and Marcella and Bridie in England, along with his wife, children and grandchildren.
There will be a viewing at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and a Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. He will be buried in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold.
