Obituary of Charles W. Malekovich

Charles W. “Malko” Malekovich, Sr., 92, of Freehold died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. He was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was an electrician for the Monmouth County Park System before his retirement. Prior to that he owned and operated his own electrician’s company in Freehold. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Freehold; a life member of American Legion Post No. 54; and a bowler in the Church Bowling League. He served as president, an umpire, and coach in Freehold Babe Ruth League for over 40 years. He was an umpire for Southern New Jersey Umpire’s Association for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Demchenko Malekovich in 1985; a daughter, Susan in 2008; his brother Budd, his sister Zane, a son-in-law, Robert; a grandson, Alec Michael and two great-grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Charles W., Jr. and William F.; two daughters, Linda Hampton and her husband Robert and Lori Pluta; a sister, Ruth Accisano and her husband, Nicholas; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
