Obituary of Lawrence Wagner

Lawrence “Bucky” Wagner, 89, of Millstone Township died November 14, 2012 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Wagner was born in Millstone Township in 1923 and was a lifelong Millstone Township resident. He was one of eight children born to Clarence R. and Emma Stillwell Wagner. Mr. Wagner was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in the Southern Philippines during World War II. He was employed by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority from 1956 until his retirement in 1987. He was a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone and a member for over 50 years of Olive Branch Lodge No. 16, F. &A.M., Freehold. He was involved in community service for many years in Millstone Township as a member of the Planning and Election Boards. He had served as a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center for four years. He enjoyed many hobbies and was most noted for his gardening, hunting and bottle collecting. He loved spending time with his family and playing cards with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Smith Wagner; a son, John Wagner; and his sisters and brothers, Evelyn Noller, Kenneth Wagner, Clarence Wagner, Jr., JoAnn Forsythe, and David Wagner. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Gainfort and her husband John, Millville; a daughter-in-law, Terry Lee Wagner, Mount Holly; his grandchildren, Jeffery Lee, Stephen Wagner and his wife Monica, Janey Wagner, Aubrey Gainfort, and Alexis Gainfort; his great grandchildren, Jeffery Lee, Jr., and Haleigh Colon; and his brothers, Bruce Wagner, Howell Township and Gaywood Wagner Cape Charles, Virginia and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Millstone Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the CentraState Healthcare Foundation, 916 Route 33, Suite 6, Freehold NJ 07728 where an annual medical sciences program scholarship is being established in his memory. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
