Obituary of Frederick L. Davis

Frederick L. Davis, 92, of Matawan died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at home. He was born in Englishtown. He was a graduate of Jamesburg High School. Mr. Davis was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class in the Pacific Theater. He was a mechanic for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority where he was employed for 40 years before his retirement in 1985. Mr. Davis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown where he served as a deacon, elder, and trustee. His wife, Eleanor Willett Davis, died in 2005. A daughter, Virginia Leigh Davis, died in 1945. Surviving are three daughters, Jacare Lynne Davis, Bakersfield, California, Eleanor Leta Davis and husband Norman Lewis Hood, Hamilton, and Holly G. Ingram and husband Richard, Matawan; five grandchildren, Virginia Leigh Cummings and husband George, RayeAnne Leal and husband Anthony, Suzanne Jeanette Pierce, and Frederick Arthur Ingram and fiancé Allison Cantos, and Robyn Ingram Bishop and husband Nathan; and seven great grandchildren, Eleanor Elise, Van Davis, Lucy Virginia, George Pierce, and Alice Lynne Cummings, and Heather Nicole and Kayla Brielle Leal. Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown, 50 Main Street, Englishtown on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Susan B. Komen Foundation, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
