Obituary of Frank P. Friedman

Frank P. Friedman, Esquire, 75, of Holmdel Township died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at John L. Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township. He was a graduate of Rider University and University of Florida School of Law. Mr. Friedman came to Freehold Borough in the mid 1960's to practice for Alexander Levchuk, Esq. and later started his own firm at 18 South Street in 1972. In 1975 the Friedman’s bought and relocated the firm to the Historic Aaron Rhea Throckmorton House at One Broad Street. Over the next 35 years Frank Friedman built Frank P. Friedman & Associates to one of the largest general practice firms in both Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Throughout his career Mr. Friedman prided himself in always fighting for the underdog, the working class, and the powerless. Early in his career as a criminal defense attorney he successfully defended a woman accused with the murder of her abusive husband. In the 1980's he was one of the first people in the country to recognize the link between baby bottles and early childhood gum decay. His early works eventually lead to nationwide action in the form of warning labels to prevent future injuries to children. At all time he stood up for the injured worker and through that improved the lives of thousands of Monmouth and Ocean county residents. Outside of his career Frank was a lifelong student of American history, loved to travel to unusual places, and was deeply committed to his family. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Friedman and a sister, Phyllis Doctor. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Christina Baird Friedman; his children, Jennifer L. Lubertazzi, Holmdel, Jeffrey J. Friedman, Esquire, Freehold, and Steven B. Friedman, Las Vegas, Nevada; and a grandson, Peter Logan Lubertazzi. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Borough of Freehold Historical Preservation Commission, 51 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
