Obituary of John Henry Schellenger
John Henry “Jack” Schellenger, Jr., 75, of Freehold died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at home. He was born in Wildwood and had resided in Freehold for the past 44 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Jack was a graduate of Manasquan High School and Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri.
He was a teacher and coach at Marlboro High School and Freehold High School, and a coach at Manasquan High School before his retirement. He was a former lieutenant for the Cape May Beach Patrol.
He was a 25 year member and former Captain of the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad; a member of the Cape Island Deer Club; and a member of Board 194 Basketball Referee Organization.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Corsaro Schellenger; a son, John H. Schellenger, III, Freehold; a daughter, Dawn Schellenger, Ocean Township; and two sisters, Donna Marie Mayer, Wall Township and Elna Marie Daidone and her husband John, Fairless Hill, Pennsylvania.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cold Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cold Spring.
