Obituary of Richard F. Dam
Richard F. Dam, a long-time resident of Union, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2016 at the age of 84. Richard was born to the late Frederick J. Dam and Anna Roth Dam in Newark on July 8, 1931. He joined the U.S. navy at the age of 17 and served during the Korean War. After his term in the Navy, Richard had a successful career working for Dictograph Security System of Florham Park where he was acknowledged for 33 years of service. He then had a fulfilling second career at Our Lady of Lourdes School in West Orange, from which he retired. Richard was a spiritual man and a proud member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Union where he was a Eucharistic Minister and assisted with the food bank program.
Richard is survived by his three daughters, Barbara LaFalce, Alice Nicol-Wild, and Carol Reed; his four grandchildren, Tyler Yeager, Alyse Yeager, Ian Yeager, and Ricky Wild; his brother James Dam and wife Alice; nieces and nephews, James Jr., Russell, Barbara, Donna, Mary and Diana; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Richard will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with a graveside service at Forest Green Park Cemetery, 535 Texas Road, Morganville, NJ 07751. Friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s name are encouraged to a religious or children’s charity of your choice.
