Obituary of Irma Castro

Irma Castro, 73 of Freehold Township, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, she moved to the Freehold area 59 years ago. Ms. Castro was a nurses’ aide for the Law Office of S. Hal Mercer, Brooklyn, New York for 20 years, retiring 20 years ago. She was predeceased by a brother and sister, Hector and Ana Maria Sostre. Surviving are two sons, Jose Colon and his wife, Felicta, Freehold, and Pedro DeJesus and his wife, Miesha, Jackson Township; three daughters, Margarita Ramirez and her husband, Nelson Martinez, Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Irma Nuez and her husband Estevan, Howell Township, and Marta DeJesus, Jackson Township; three brothers, Felix Castro, Freehold Township, Louis Sostre and his wife, Anna, Freehold, and Jaime Sostre and his wife, Migdalia, Brick Township; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold, with visitation at the Church from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
