Obituary of Brother Augustine Loes
Brother Augustine Loes, F.S.C., 99, of Lincroft died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. Brother Augustine was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received the Holy Habit of the Christian Brothers on September 7, 1930.
He was a graduate of Catholic University, Washington, D.C. He received a Master of Arts Degree in Latin from Fordham University in 1945 and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology from Catholic University in 1955. He received a LL. D from Manhattan College in 1986, and a Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Manhattan College in 1987.
His assignments included Christian Brothers Academy, Albany, N.Y., De La Salle Institute, New York City, Christian Brothers Juniorate, Barrytown, N.Y. where he served as Sub-Director and Director, Christian Brothers Mother House, Rome, Italy, Director of Lincoln Hall, Lincolndale, N.Y. , De La Salle College, Washington, D.C., De La Salle Scholasticate, Washington, D.C. where he was Director of Juniors and Sophomores, and Resurrection School, Harlem, N.Y.
He was Provincial of the La Salle Provincialate, Executive Director of La Salle School, Albany, N.Y., and Director of De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. Brother Augustine was in residence at Queen of Peace High School, North Arlington and Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft.
The viewing will be held at De La Salle Hall, 810 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at De La Salle Hall on Monday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro Township.
