Obituary of George A. Ostrowski

George A. Ostrowski, 90, of Marlboro Township, returned to God’s arms on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2013 at his home after a 4 year courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer. Mr Ostrowski was born in Freehold and resided in Marlboro for the last 63 years. Mr. Ostrowski served with the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific for 4 years. After being discharged from the Army, he became a Union Carpenter for Local No. 2250, Red Bank. With the skills he learned as a carpenter, he was able to build his own house with help from a few paid family and friends. With his wife Alice, they owned and operated Dutch Lane Kennels for many years. Mr.Ostrowski enjoyed annual vacations with his family and he eventually purchased an RV (camper) in which George and Alice enjoyed traveling around the country visiting family and friends along the way to various sightseeing attractions. After his wife passed in 1991, George met a lovely female companion to share his remaining retirement years with. Lucy and George continued to travel in the RV and enjoyed weekly visits to Atlantic City. When George returned to his homestead, he spent his days doing outdoor yard work. Mr. Ostrowski was predeceased by his wife Alice, in 1991; and two sisters, Bertha Daugila, in 2012, and Helen Kemp. Surviving are one son and daughter in law, Ronald and Diana, Howell Township; one daughter, Delia Garcia, Marlboro Township; two brothers, Frank of Freehold, and Edward, South River; and two sisters , Mary Dawson, Freehold, and Rose Bradley, St Augustine, Florida. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Historic R.C. Church, Route 520 East, Marlboro Township, on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold.
