Obituary of Robert John Wedewer
Robert John Wedewer, 84, of Freehold Township died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at home. He was born in Dyersville, Iowa and had resided in Howell Township before moving to Freehold Township.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine Service and later in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Wedewer was a house painter for 30 years before his retirement. He was employed by Harold McNamara Painting and Gus Frank Painting before becoming self-employed.
He owned several standardbred horses and photographs of his horses in the winner’s circle were prominently hung on his living room walls.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Wedewer, San Francisco, California, Mark Wedewer and wife Melanie, Howell Township, and Robert Wedewer and wife Julie, West St. Paul, Minnesota; a brother, Donald Wedewer, Charleston, S.C.; his grandchildren, Justin and wife Jennifer, Nicholas, Ben, Lucy and Kate Wedewer; and a great granddaughter, Edison Wedewer.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
