Obituary of Loraine Taifer Bernzweig
Loraine Taifer Bernzweig, 84, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at home in West Orange. She was born in Jersey City to Abraham and Rose Zoss Taifer, and resided in Freehold for many years before retiring to Florida with her husband, William. She recently returned north to live with her children.
A graduate of Douglass College, Mrs. Bernzweig was personnel director for IEP Youth Services, Freehold before her retirement. She was a former member of Congregation Agudath Achim, Hadassah, and IEP Youth Services Foundation, Inc, all of Freehold. In the 1960's, she was a teacher and partner at Freehold Nursery School.
Her husband of fifty-three years, William Bernzweig, died in 2004. Her one brother, Mark Taifer died in 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Jay Bernzweig of West Hollywood, California, and Carl Bernzweig and his wife Sharon, West Orange; a daughter Toni Pozzanghera and her husband, Keith Pozzanghera, Putnam Valley, N.Y.; a niece Cindy Friedman Ambrose and her husband Dan Ambrose, of Eugene, Oregon; six grandchildren, Mia and Evan Pozzanghera, Clifford and Alex Bernzweig and Cliff's wife Gwen, and Robert and Michael Ambrose; and two great-grandchildren, Cassie and Damien Bernzweig.
Graveside services will be held at the Workmen’s Circle Cemetery, Route 33, Freehold on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Donations may be made to IEP Youth Services Foundation, 75 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
